What is Candid Wedding Photography?

Updated: Jun 2, 2022

In the World of Photography - Wedding photographers are known and respected for the art we create. Wedding photography has really evolved over the years into various forms. One of the Key Players in wedding photography is "The Candid Style".

Now let's dive into what's candid and to make it easier - let's compare it with one another style of wedding photography.

As a Candid wedding photographer, I don't create a picture by making you pose waiting for the perfect light or setting, (during a wedding there is really no time for that! :)) however sad but true most photographers click staged photos and stigmatise themselves as a candid photographer.

Yes! Staged photos - which is nothing but - "Traditional Photography" in its true sense - a dream sold to deliver the same looking pictures shot about 30 years ago!

The word "Candid" is overused and misused at the same time.

As a candid wedding photographer your personality matters. You must be easy going, easy to adapt, friendly but professional at the same time, and of course being good at what you do.

In order to be perceived as a really good candid wedding photographer you need to have a balance of everything, even a good sense of humor goes a long way! Which is a very rare quality - specially in India - but not many know - it's one of the most precious qualities a candid photographer can possess.

Just because you can take good pictures doesn't make you a good candid wedding photographer it's much more than that. It's a package you sell with your personality. So selecting the right wedding photographer matters! Hiring a candid wedding photographer can be an expensive affair, but in my opinion, you shouldn't have to compromise on such a special once in a lifetime event - such as your wedding & trust me - it's worth every penny, as we work like a movie roll. We start when the bride wakes up and only really sleep when the wedding photographs are delivered. : )
